Ruidoso Downs is so close to Ruidoso you won't realize it's a separate township, but Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and museums are the area's huge draws. The summer horse-racing season keeps the 9,800 or so permanent residents entertained after the snow and ski bunnies disappear.
