Guadalupe Cafe Review

Come to this informal café for hefty servings of New Mexican favorites like enchiladas—vegetarian options are delicious—and quesadillas, or burritos smothered in green or red chile, topped off with sopaipilla and honey. The seasonal raspberry pancakes are one of many breakfast favorites as are eggs Benedict with green-chile hollandaise sauce. Service is hit-or-miss and the wait for a table considerable—but the spicy food keeps 'em coming back for more.

    best breakfast in town

There are a lot of good places for breakfast but this is my hands down favorite. Charming old adobe with multiple dining rooms, friendly staff, HUGE portions and reasonable prices. Anything New Mexican with the red chile is a great choice but also the best fresh raspberry pancakes on the planet.

One of Santa Fe's best New Mexican food restaurants

My focus for New Mexican food is the red chile sauce. Guadalupe Cafe's "red" is one of the best in the state. It is also usually pretty hot. If "red" is your thing, you can order any New Mexican dish with red on it and be satisfied. In addition, my wife raves about their breakfast burritos. Salads are pretty good, also.

Be warned that the place is often packed (especially when the legislature is in session—the state house is next door), so arrive early or make reservations.
