Inn at Loretto Review

This plush, oft-photographed, pueblo-inspired property attracts a loyal clientele, many of whom swear by the friendly staff and high decorating standards. The lobby opens up to the gardens and large pool, and leather couches and high-end architectural details make the hotel a pleasure to relax in. Rooms are among the largest of any downtown property and contain vibrantly upholstered, handcrafted furnishings and sumptuous slate-floor bathrooms—many have large balconies overlooking downtown. Other nice touches include an iPod dock and a complimentary newspaper each day. The new restaurant, Luminaria, serves creative Southwestern fare. The spa offers a wide range of Balinese and Thai-style treatments and services.

Lovely room -- though the decor is somewhat hokey (as is the faux painting in the hallways). The views were gorgeous & the air was oh-so-fresh......until the hotel cranked up the outdoor fireplace! Alas!! Choking smoke forced us to close the french doors -- and then we could still smell smoke. To further the ambience, the bath tub drain made burping sounds -- when the A/C unit was running. Odd, yes, but it happened. We relayed our concerns to the hoity front desk man, and he was quite amused by our concerns. No concessions offered, just a lukewarm apology. We were entirely underwhelmed by our stay.
