Bumble Bee's Baja Grill Review

A bright, vibrantly colored restaurant with closely spaced tables, piñatas, and ceiling fans wafting overhead, Bumble Bee's (it's the nickname of the ebullient owner, Bob) delights locals with its super-fresh Cal Mex-style food. If you like fish tacos, the mahimahi ones with creamy, nondairy slaw are outstanding; try them with a side of salad instead of beans and rice—and hijole! (wow!) What a meal! Mammoth burritos with a wide range of fillings (including asparagus—yum!), roasted chicken with cilantro-lime rice, char-grilled trout platters, and a wide variety of vegetarian options keep folks pouring through the doors. You order at the counter, grab some chips and any one of a number of freshly made salsas from the bar, and wait for your number to come up. Beer, wine, and Mexican soft drinks are served. Try a homemade Mexican chocolate brownie for dessert. There's live jazz on Saturday nights.

    Bumble Bee's Baja Grill Review

    Casual, quick and convenient are how I'd characterize Bumble Bee's. The counter clerk was helpful and enthusiastic. My partner enjoyed her fish taco; my veggie burrito lacked the corn ingredient advertised and was rather bland. The tortilla wrap was dry. Bumble Bee's no longer offers jazz nor the Mexican brownie, two small disappointments. Our server said these were discontinued about 3 or 4 years ago. This would be an easy place to bring kids and the outdoor patio tables looked inviting though they overlook a major roadway.

    $9 hand held burrito

    I ordered from drive up a chicken burrito. I thought it seemed a little expensive when I placed my order, but when the employee handed me the bag with my burrito, I almost choked. I asked if this was all for $9 and she just sort of smiled and said yes....she knew what I was talking about. This place is in an old Taco Bell....bring back Taco Bell!
