Tucked down a side street a few blocks northwest of the Plaza, this always-packed breakfast and lunch spot has a nondescript dining room overlooking a big parking lot, but the food is stellar. Breakfast favorites include the Chesapeake Bay Benedict, topped with blue-crab croquettes, and the Lonestar platter (chicken-fried steak, two eggs, and creamy gravy). At lunch, try the roasted rosemary chicken or char-grilled eggplant sandwich. Yes, they have plenty of New York-style bagels and spreads, too, but there's plenty more to choose from here.

I am a long time resident of SF. Moved here from NYC. This used to be a nice place to eat a breakfast or lunch. Just went by there yesterday after many years. The prices were outrageous, even for SF! I paid $10.50 for a provolone sandwich that contained 2 pieces of cheese, 1 slice of lettuce and 2 very thin halves of tomatoes! Additionally, there was a dollop of potato salad and a dollop of slaw!
I don’t know who reviewed this for Fodor’s but for ambiance the outdoor seating is in the middle of a parking lot with cars driving by! That never was a feature even when this place was frequented by locals.
