Don Gaspar Inn Review
One of the city's best-kept secrets, this exquisitely landscaped and decorated compound is on a pretty residential street a few blocks south of the Plaza. Its three historic houses have three distinct architectural styles: Arts and Crafts, Pueblo Revival, and Territorial. Floral gardens and aspen and cottonwood trees shade the tranquil paths and terraces, and both Southwest and Native American paintings and handmade furnishings enliven the sunny rooms and suites. The Arts and Crafts main house has two fireplaces, two bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. Staff is attentive without hovering. Considering the setting and amenities, it's a great value.

We spent 5 nights at the Inn of Don Gaspar. We could have extended our stay in Santa Fe by another night at a different hotel, but felt that it would be anti-climactic after the wonderful experience we had at this inn. We have stayed at many B&Bs and small inns over the past 20 years. While the Don Gaspar is not for the traveler on a budget (and we took advantage of an off-season discount), it ranks in the top 5% for us, and we think we wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we want to be right in town. The innkeepers are wonderful, and professional visitors will find much common ground. The comfort factor and the charm factor are very high. We are fussy sleepers and gratefully found the beds in our suite – even the pullout couch – to be more than adequate. Breakfast was a high point and it varied slightly every day. During our stay, in addition to the (generally nicer than) usual offerings, it always included a freshly prepared hot dish that ranged from a breakfast casserole to a croissant bread pudding. Even the coffee (usually a weak point anywhere we go) was very good. Our suite had a well-equipped full kitchen which we used, since one of us spent time in the suite, working. The Plaza would be a short walk for most people – 6 or 7 blocks, a straight shot down Don Gaspar. There is an elementary school across the street from the Inn, but other than the time at which children are arriving around 8 a.m., all was quiet. Some suites are on the school side, but there are others on the Don Gaspar street side away from the school. Our stay was wonderful, and as we are frequent visitors to Santa Fe, we plan to return soon.

From the moment of my call to reserve to the last breakfast the place, the people and the location served us well for our visit to Santa Fe. The price was the most we ever paid but well worth it, the suite was glorious and the service was personalized and genuine. My best travel experience thus far. Stay here you will love it,

My husband and I stayed here in November and had a wonderful time in the Territorial room. It was very large and comfortable. I loved the King-sized bed with the memory foam top.
We were greeted every time we saw an innkeeper and were surprised at how helpful they were with restaurant and sightseeing ideas.
Breakfast was very nice and we never walked away hungry. My husband especially loved the green chile souffle.
I can't wait to go back there in the summer, their gardens look divine. -

This was our first visit to a bed and breakfast, and we really enjoyed the experience. The Don Gaspar is beautiful, and the rooms and breakfast were great. The only down sides were: its a ways from downtown. Not a proble for two healthy young adults, but my parents wouldn't have been happy at the distance. Not a problem if you have a car, though. The compound faces and elementary school, so if you're planning to sleep late on a school day, this is not the place for you. Finally, the managers (owners?) of the Don Gaspar were not as helpful with recommending resstaurants as we would have liked. They were friendly and helpful about everything else, just not that. Otherwise, a wonderful experience and we will return.

I highly recommend a stay here and can't wait to visit again. After a three and half day lay over in Texas due to weather we were greeted by a friendly and sympathetic woman who immediately made up a tray of food for us and showed us to our room. We stayed in the Colorado room which was quaint and comfortable stocked with everything we might need. The grounds were beautiful even in the middle of winter. The breakfast was out of this world! Everything was fresh, homemade, and delicious! We were treated wonderfully and my husband and I can't wait to visit again!
