This cozy locals' favorite has colorful walls and wood details, booths, a few tables, and a community table. The shaded patio out front is a great summertime spot to enjoy the toothsome Southwest-inspired cooking. Start the day with savory breakfast rellenos, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, or the huevos salvadoreños (eggs scrambled with scallions and tomatoes, served with refried beans, panfried bananas, and a tortilla). Lunch and dinner offerings include the super-juicy Dave Was Here burger served with crispy home-cut fries, a ginger-chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread, and Salvadoran treats called pupusas, which are most like griddled, flattened, soft tamales. Homemade baked goods include a variety of pies and cakes. The staff is friendly and efficient and the care taken by the owners, Chuy and Charlotte Rivera, is evident.
