Getting Here and Around
Carlsbad Caverns is 27 mi southwest of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and 35 mi north of Guadalupe Mountains National Park via U.S. 62/180. The nearest full-service airport is in El Paso, 154 mi away. The 9½-mi Walnut Canyon Desert Drive loop is one-way. It's a curvy, gravel road and is not recommended for motor homes or trailers. Be alert for wildlife crossing roadways, especially in the early morning and at night.
