Carlsbad Caverns National Park Sights

Brantley Lake State Park

  • Park (National/State/Provincial)

Updated 10/21/2013

Fodor's Review

In addition to 4,200-acre Brantley Lake and dam, this park 12 miles north of Carlsbad offers primitive camping areas, nature trails, a visitor center, and 51 fully equipped campsites. Half of the campsites are first-come, first-served, while the other half can be reserved. There's also fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, carp, catfish, and walleye pike (though authorities recommend practicing catch-and-release due to the high levels of contaminants). There are boat ramps for those with their own vessel.
