Formerly a bland chain hotel, this 1960s four-story hotel received an art deco makeover in the early 2000s and rebranded itself as a trendy boutique property. In reality, it is intimate and the art deco rooms are fairly attractive (with white walls and furniture and simple black accents), but it would be a serious stretch to call this place hip or truly of the boutique genre. Still, although it's not fancy, the rates are terrific considering the central location and great amenities, such as dual-line phones, free local calls, 25-inch TVs, hair dryers, and irons and ironing boards. It overlooks a small park, is a short stroll from downtown's many lively music clubs and restaurants, and is a short drive or 15-minute walk from Old Town.
