Museum of Archaeology & Material Culture

Museum of Archaeology & Material Culture Review

In Cedar Crest, just off NM 14 a couple of miles south of Sandia Park, the modest but nicely laid-out Museum of Archaeology & Material Culture chronicles archaeological finds and contains artifacts dating from the Ice Age to the Battle of Wounded Knee. Exhibits shed light on prehistoric man, buffalo hunting, a history of turquoise mining in north-central New Mexico, and the 1930s excavations of Sandia Cave (about 15 mi away) that offered evidence of some of the earliest human life in North America.
