A university-area hangout, this sentimental favorite serves consistently exemplary New Mexican food on a funky patio and inside a cozy dining room. The service is sometimes pokey, but always friendly. Go for the green-chile-chicken enchiladas or any of the heart-healthy and vegetarian selections. But watch out for the fiery green chiles served at harvesttime—this is spicy food even by local standards. Note that liquor isn't served, but beer and wine are—you can get decent-tasting "margaritas" made with wine.
