Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro Review

A snazzy spot in lower Nob Hill, fairly close to UNM, Zinc captures the essence of a San Francisco neighborhood bistro with its high ceilings, hardwood floors, and white tablecloths and dark-wood straight-back café chairs. You can sample wine from the long list or listen to live music downstairs in the Blues Cellar. Consider the starter of asparagus-and-artichoke tart with baby greens and spicy dried-fruit tapenade; or the main dish of over-roasted wild Alaskan halibut with a Parmesan-asparagus risotto cake, braised leek, and fennel, with a roasted-red-pepper vinaigrette. The kitchen uses organic ingredients whenever available.
