Zinc Wine Bar and Bistro

Fodor's Review:

A snazzy spot in lower Nob Hill, fairly close to UNM, Zinc captures the essence of a San Francisco neighborhood bistro with its high ceilings, hardwood floors, and white tablecloths and dark-wood straight-back café chairs. You can drop in to sample wine from the long list, nosh on tasty contemporary cooking, or listen to live music downstairs in the Blues Cellar. From the kitchen, consider the starter of asparagus-and-artichoke tart with baby greens and spicy dried-fruit tapenade; or the main dish of over-roasted wild Alaskan halibut with a Parmesan-asparagus risotto cake, braised leek, and fennel, with a roasted-red pepper vinaigrette. The kitchen uses organic ingredients whenever available.
