One of the more imaginative adaptations of a disused building, the landmark Parq Central occupies a striking three-story former AT & SF Railroad employees' hospital that dates to 1926. In the perky EDo neighborhood, the hotel is just off I–25, a short drive west of UNM and Nob Hill, and minutes from the airport. The designers had fun with this project, creating the Apothecary rooftop bar in which vintage 1920s cocktails are served, and playing off the building's original features, notably its lovely Moravian-style tile details. The spacious, fully sound-blocked rooms have high-quality Fretté linens, terry robes, 37-inch LCD flat-screen TVs, iPod consoles, and free Wi-Fi. A breakfast buffet is included; enjoy it in the window-lined Parlor Room, or in the soothing back patio gardens. Fitness center on-site is small, but has all the right basics; in-room massage services can be arranged by the solicitious staff.
