Fodor's Review

The stunning Italianate mansion, one of the few large estates to survive Cape May's Great Fire of 1879, now serves as a boutique hotel. Its brightly painted rooms—robin's-egg blue, mustard yellow, deep red—are filled with Victorian antiques, such as ornate fireplace mantels and four-poster beds, as well as modern amenities like phones with data ports. Stroll along the garden path and admire the flowers, especially abundant in May, or visit in December to see the parlors

decked out with Christmas trees and garlands appropriate to the Victorian era.

RUDE STAFF IN A BEAUTIFUL PLACE

On top of their webiste you will see "Southern Hospitality" that could not be further from the truth...these people make it clear that you are bothering them from check in to check out...not one helpful and caring person there...but it is really a beautiful place.

Southern Mansion, Jersey Style

We stayed for a three day weekend in August for a fortieth birthday. We had a large room on the third floor, no elevator. The only difference between our room and the large rooms on the 2nd floor were the size of the windows and the extra flight of steps. Great big bed and room. Small bathroom but large shower. Breakfast was yummy, yummy yummy. Three great hot choices plus large continental selections. Tea in the afternoon is a must. Its the perfect

light lunch after the beach, then take a nap and enjoy a late dinner. Would go there again in a heart beat. The service draw back was there was no porter to carry the bags up 3 flights to the room. The desk was great about directions and dinner recommendations. Great garden and quiet location make it a great romantic place.

WONDERFUL in Cape May!

We just spent a Sunday here and it was absolutely wonderful. There are beautiful gardens on the large property, and there are lots of places to cozy up with a book, both inside and out. Our cupola room was lovely; there was a wide veranda just outside our door with tables and chairs, and there are 2 fireplaces in the grand room, which were on most of the time. The meals we had were excellent, and the staff is very helpful. Maintenance is excellent

as well, someone was always cleaning something. It's close to town, a 2 minute walk, but just off enough that it's quiet. We can't wait to go again! We highly recommend it.
