Nature Preserves, Atlantic City

Fodor's Review:

Nearly 40,000 acres of coastal habitats -- including 3,000 acres of woodland -- are protected in this refuge. Peregrine falcons and bald eagles are among the winged visitors. You can take an 8-mi wildlife drive, or walk the Leeds Eco-Trail, a 1/2-mi loop through salt marsh and woodlands, or the Akers Woodland Trail, an easy ¼ quarter mi. To get here from Atlantic City, head west on U.S. 30, then right on U.S. 9. After about 5 mi, make a right onto Great Creek Road.

It's for the birds

Don't miss the Wildlife Refuge during migration seasons. What a variety of birds. You don't even need to get out of the car to see it. The drive takes approximately one hour. Hope you like it because once you start the drive around the circle you cannot turn back!
