Speed limits on interstate and limited-access highways are generally 65 mph, except in heavily settled areas, where 55 mph is the norm. On state and U.S. routes, speed limits vary considerably. On any given stretch, the limit may be anywhere from 25 mph to 55 mph, so watch the signs carefully. Right turns are permitted on red lights unless indicated.
Official state maps are available free from the New Hampshire Office of Travel and Tourism Development. They cite useful telephone numbers and information about bike, snowmobile, and scenic routes.
