Fodor's Review:

A luxurious take on the classic cottage compounds that dot the Sunapee and Lakes regions, this particular little collection of contemporary shingle bungalows tumbles down a gentle hillside just steps from Sunapee Harbor's marina and restaurants. Each light and airy unit sleeps from five to eight people, making this a good deal for larger groups and a bit of a splurge for couples -- all have kitchens, gas fireplaces, porches, and a well-chosen mix of antiques and newer furnishings. Nice touches include grocery-delivery service, in-room massage, and even catered meals prepared by the nearby Millstone Restaurant.

Steer Clear of Sunapee Harbor Cottages

Posted by Bosephus from NY on 7/31/08
My experience at these cottages was similar to the reviews below. From the exterior the place looks pretty nice, but once you enter the surreal world of the proprietor your stay will be ruined. You will be greeted by an extensive set of rules that will be randomly applied or enforced by a screeching voice. Children playing joyfully outside seem to upset the proprietor in particular. You will be stalked and harassed and if you attempt to engage in discourse the proprietor has a history of calling the police (see posts at travelpost.com for details). Your security deposit will be at risk as the proprietor will attempt to find any excuse to withhold your money. If you are able to escape the grounds, you will find that the advertising for the cottages is false in that these are not waterfront cottages. You can barely see the water from the cottages. To get to the water you must cross a street and a public park. And once at the water you will discover you can't swim in the harbor. Avoid at all costs.

Poor Hospitality

Ditto - the previous review. Just add the mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers and cabinets and the accusation by the owner that they have never had mice before and that maybe we brought the mice in one of our bags. That sums up our stay.

Don't Bother

If the owner wasn't there, these cottages would be great. Expect to be lectured on the "rules" from the minute you get there. You will be nickled and dimed for everything. Good luck if you're bringing children, the warden, I mean, you're host will have plenty of rules for them too.
