If you have kids, you'll be happy at this 1830 farmhouse resort, where children are not only allowed but seem to be expected. They can milk the cows; feed the animals; and try arts and crafts, storytelling, and hiking. The innkeepers arrange weekly sleigh (or hay) and pony rides. Twice weekly in July and August, trips are scheduled to a nearby lake for boating, waterskiing, and fishing. Rates include most activities and three meals in a camplike dining hall. The inn is 10 mi southeast of Keene.
