Just steps from the cross-country trails and Jackson Village, this estimable Stanford White-designed Victorian inn completely burned to the ground in 2002 but was lavishly rebuilt and expanded in spring 2004. Although the main inn no longer feels quite so old-fashioned, it retains the original style and amazing attention to detail. All of the rooms in the new buildings abound with cushy amenities: two-person Jacuzzis, fireplaces, and TVs with DVDs. The top units have steam showers, wet bars, and refrigerators. Cottages and rooms in the carriage house harken back to an earlier period, but some do have whirlpool tubs and all are decorated beautifully. The restaurant ($$-$$$$; reservations essential) serves fine contemporary fare: braised pheasant with asparagus and dried cherries is a good bet. A full spa has been added to the new inn, providing a full range of beauty treatments and massages. Afternoon tea and a substantial full breakfast are included.

We happened upon this Inn by accident. They usually want a 2 night stay on the weekend, but had an opening for 1 night. This is an oasis of comfort in the White Mountains. Although it was expensive, the price includes afternoon tea (with fabulous homemade cookies), dinner for two that rivals any gourmet restaurant, and a cooked breakfast. We had a suite that included a fabulous bed, fireplace, jacuzzi tub and shower, a sitting room, and Godiva chocolates waiting on our bed when we arrived. The restaurant fills up with guests and residents so they recommend you reserve a time for dinner. We loved this place and if we were in the area again we would stay there. They also have a spa (didn't use), and a pool for summer use. Fabulous and a great getaway..I would like to visit in the winter during a snowfall and snuggle under the fluffy down comforter with the fireplace burning....
