The 1785 Inn
The 1785 Inn Review
Visitors keep coming back to this special place, not only for its outstanding food, but for its quaint New England charm and spectacular mountain views. The main dining room is in the original 1785 building with a cooking fireplace, Early American antiques, and exposed hand-hewn beams. The restaurant is known for its gracious service (Caesar salads are prepared table-side), extravagant desserts, and drinks that shoot up in flames. Beyond the theatrics, the food by chef Peter Willis is beautifully prepared and flavorful, including the tender seared Maine scallops with a ginger, chili, coconut, and lemongrass sauce, and ruby trout with sweet rice and a seaweed salad. The inn has 17 guest rooms that range from cozy to luxurious.
