In the days before antihistamines, hay-fever sufferers came by the trainload to this enchanting village, 5 mi southeast of Littleton, whose crisp air has a blissfully low pollen count. Today this hamlet is notable for its distinctive arts and crafts, Victorian and Colonial homes, art deco movie theater, and shops and eateries on its main street.
