Originally a carriage shed built in 1830, this local institution was converted to a tearoom during the Depression, when the Dexters began serving all-you-can-eat pancakes, waffles, and French toast for 50¢. The prices have gone up, but the descendants of the Dexters continue to serve pancakes and waffles made from grains ground on the property, their own country sausage, and pure maple syrup. The oatmeal-buttermilk pancakes with coconut, blueberries, or walnuts are other favorites. You can purchase home mixes and syrup at the adjoining store.

Every served here is from this farm. We have made the trip to Polly's four or five times and are always pleased. Their pancakes are the best I have ever eaten anywhere.
Expect to wait at least an hour in the summer, longer on weekends. Just plan ahead, put in your name and take a scenic drive before you return.
The views are nearly as good as the food.
The owners received a James Beard award in 2006.

After reading about Polly's Pancake Parlor in Fodor's New England Guide I wanted to eat there. It took several years, but I finally made it and it was worth the wait and the drive from Bryant Pond, ME. Great service, atmosphere, even better food. Wondeful fruit and berries in season, the best home fries ever and of course the pancakes and all the maple syrup you can eat. Planning my next trip there this summer. You can order syrup and pancake mixes online year round.
