The Appalachian Mountain Club operates this rustic lodge at the base of Mt. Washington. Accommodations range from single-sex bunk rooms (rented by the bunk) for as many as five people, to private rooms—all have gleaming wood, cheerful quilts, and reading lights. The restaurant serves buffet breakfasts and lunches and family-style dinners. Packages include breakfast and dinner, plus skiing at Great Glen Trails and/or the Wildcat ski area. Pros: recreational access to mountain; AMC guides and educational oportunities. Cons: rustic conditions not right for those seeking luxury.
