Despite its wintery name, this 1778 inn is an all-season retreat. Rooms in the main building and the saltbox next door have Laura Ashley and Ralph Lauren prints. Other rooms are set in a delightful old barn, in a sugarhouse, and in a few cottages set about the wooded grounds. In the main inn parlor, a Christmas tree is up all year, and there's a great fireplace. The inn's gardens are spectacular. The twelve suites in the contemporary carriage house have two-person whirlpool tubs and gas fireplaces. Pros: kids welcome, nice pools. Cons: saltbox rooms could use improvement.

We stayed in the cabin which was pretty and secluded but with some terrible beds and an oven/stove that didn't work consistently (for Christmas)and a sink that ran all the time. When we complained, management offered us $50 off even though we were paying premium rates. We finally got a discount but will not return.
