Fodor's Review

Journalist Frank Simonds built this gambrel-roofed main house in 1916, and its nicest room has 12 windows that look out over the Presidential Range. Many guest rooms have fireplaces, and the carriage house has eight rooms that can accommodate up to 20 people. From the inn, you can hike up to beautiful Foss Mountain. In the winter, ask the innkeeper for snowshoes and explore the property's 10 acres and trails. Award-winning chef Brian Anderson serves dinners of seasonal, local foods, which he adds international flavors, such as veal Marsala or Moroccan lamb.
