Wentworth by the Sea Review
What's not to love about this white colossus overlooking the sea on New Castle Island. The closest thing New Hampshire has to a Ritz-Carlton, Wentworth by the Sea has luxurious rooms and modern and opulent amenities including a good spa and an indoor heated pool. The coastline and island location are superb. Built in 1874 as a summer resort for East Coast socialites, wealthy patrons, and former presidents, the property reopened in spring 2003 after being rebuilt. All of the rooms have ocean and harbor views—the huge sunny suites, which have gas fireplaces, occupy a new building right on the water, facing the marina. Enjoy a lavish meal in the formal Wentworth Dining Room ($$$), or try the lighter tavern restaurant Roosevelt's Lounge ($$), and, in summer only, Latitudes ($$), a marina-front restaurant.
2010 Fodor's 100 Hotel Award Winner
The restored Wentworth by the Sea is a standout wedding venue not simply because of its idyllic coastal location, elegant facilities, comprehensive event-planning support, spa and golf packages, optional horse-drawn carriage, and white-glove service. No, what sets it apart are the ways refinement and nature are brought together. Sip champagne in the gardens, or take in the sunset from the Garden Ballroom's private veranda.
