There are four separate hotels here—two new properties on the shore Lake Winnipesaukee, and two connected to a 19th-century mill (now a lively shopping area) and its roaring fall. Combined, the inns have all the amenities of a full resort as well as warmth and personality. The central-most Inn at Mills Falls, which adjoins an 18-shop market, has a pool and 54 spacious rooms. The lakefront Inn at Bay Point has 24 rooms—most with balconies, some with fireplaces. The 23 rooms at the lake-view Chase House at Mill Falls all have fireplaces; some have balconies. The star of the show is camp-posh Church Landing, a dramatic lakefront lodge where most rooms have expansive decks with terrific water views. The Cascade Spa is one of the poshest in the state. A great heated pool crosses from indoors to outdoors. Pros: many lodging choices and prices, lakefront rooms available, fun environment. Cons: expensive; two buildings are not on lakefront.
