Squam Lakes Natural Science Center
Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Review
Trails on this 200-acre property include a ¾-mi path that passes black bears, bobcats, otters, mountain lions, and other native wildlife in trailside enclosures. The "Up Close to Animals" series in July and August allows visitors to see a species at an educational presentation in an amphitheater. Children's activities include learning about bugs, watercolor painting of plants and animals, and wilderness survival skills. The boat ride is the best way to tour the lake: naturalists explain its science and describe the animals that make their home here, including fascinating stuff about the loon.
