The Manor on Golden Pond Review
A name like that is a lot to live up to. Luckily, the Manor is the most charming inn in the Lakes Region. Stroll down to the beach for a dip in the lake or to take a canoe for a paddle. The house sits on a slight rise overlooking Squam Lake, and the grounds consist of 15 acres of towering pines and hardwood trees. Relax on the lawn in one of the Adirondack chairs, gazing out at the lake. Back in the stately inn, owners Brian and Mary Ellen Shields ensure comfort. Rooms carry out a British country theme, most with wood-burning fireplaces and more than half with double whirlpool tubs. Canopy beds, vintage blanket chests, and tartan fabrics fill the sumptuous bedchambers. The restaurant ($$$) is terrific, and the Three Cock Pub is endearing. There's a small spa, and afternoon tea is served in the library.
