Luxor Resort & Casino Review

Hotel has really gone downhill. I was just there 10/21 and buffet was horrible, casino very dirty, slot machines looked as if they haven't been wiped down in months, there was crud and dirt covering the buttons. I stayed at the Luxor 3 yrs ago and iy was great. What a dissappointment this trip!!

Stayed in the towers. If you are a non-smoker, do not stay in the pyramid. We had 2 connecting rooms and they were very nice. I have read reviews about this hotel being very tired. Not so of the towers. They may have stayed in the pyramid. For the money, the is a very good bet. Kinda prefer a more Northern location on strip but the price is right. The food court was great for teenagers. Didn't get to use pools as it was New Years. I would stay at the Luxor again. The towers are great because you can valet park there instead of front main entrance. We were always in and out like a breeze.

I have stayed in the Luxor a couple years ago. It was one of my favorite places from when I was younger. The attractions I saw like the Nile River Ride was gone. However, I did like the Egyptian Tour Museum and the Game Room where all ages can enjoy. The rooms were nice(I was one the third floor which you can only ride a glass elevator to it, not the inclinator which I wanted to ride on). I would still stay there in the future.

Although I was very satisfied with the restaurants, pool, casino, attractions, I will not stay there again.


The reason: the sheets on the bed. The bottom sheet is not fitted and barely covers the mattress. The bottom and top sheet are tucked together under the mattress. This causes the bottom sheet to come loose while sleeping. Both the bottom sheet and the mattress pad shift exposing the bare mattress. By morning, we find ourselves sleeping primarily on a bare mattress. I am sure this same thing happens to countless other hotel guests, contributing to an "unclean" situation. Unless the mattresses are thoroughly sanitized between guests, this is not acceptable. Also it is not the housekeepers fault as they can only work with the materials provided. Sincerely, Joan Kilger

The Luxor is a typical strip hotel. large, noisy with a lot of people staying here. Therefore check in can take awhile. I had a room in the tower which was nice as everything worked. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom nice. Be prepared to do a lot of walking as this hotel is located on the south strip and a ways from the main hotels. There is a shuttle that runs between Mandalay Bay, the Luxor & the Excalibur but from there you walk. Be sure to get an all day pass on The Deuce bus for $5. It is a great way to get up and down the strip. The Luxor is one of the closest to the airport so it is a good place to stay if you have an early morning flight out. Valet parking is free but a tip is expected. It has some of the best deals on the strip for a large hotel.

Just returned from a conference. Spent one night at The Luxor in a pyramid room. I would not stay there again even if the room were free. The first room (16th floor, pool view) had minimal water pressure to the point that the toilet would not flush adequately. Fortunately I found this out before I unpacked. My request for a second room (room 14141, strip view) was accommodated quickly. However, the hotel in general is very tired. The room was in disrepair and bedspreads and bedding worn, furniture finish worn off in spots around the knobs. There is no safe in the room, you have to store valuables at a special desk in the lobby. The "inclinators" are not centrally located - so it is confusing to go from one guest floor to the next. The pool is a barren wasteland of concrete - I guess this is in keeping with the Egyptian theme, but there is little/no shade to be found. I arrived at the pool at 5:45 PM for a swim, when I entered the gate there was no mention that the pool was almost closing, but 5 minutes later the security guard was walking from guest to guest with a "5 minute warning" - hardly worth me getting wet and having to shower, etc afterwards. The carpeting in the halls are all stretched and buckled - I am suprised as this is a trip hazard/liability issue and it was like this on both the 16th and 14th floor. I have stayed at both The Mirage and Mandalay Bay previously, so maybe I was spoiled - but this was barely a 2-star in my opinion and in a different location it may not even make that rating. I am not a picky traveler - I was only looking for a clean comfortable place and this did NOT fit the bill. Do not be lured by price on this one - stay some place else.

This was my second time staying at the Luxor. The first time I stayed in a tower room which was nice and good sized. This time we opted to stay in the Pyramid and even though we were offered the chance to upgrade to the Tower for a small fee. Check-in this time was quick, less than five minutes. There was a manager at the front of the line to escort you to the next available agent. Last time, two years ago, it took well over 20 minutes and with attitude from the agent. It seems the Luxor is working on their customer service and satisfaction. The service in the casino and eating areas was also excellent, prompt and friendly. The Pyramid room was nice, a bit worn, but clean. The fan in the bathroom was loud and annoying. They only provide one small bar of soap which is supposed to be used for handwashing and the shower. The next night we asked for an extra bar of soap to be left by housekeeping which worked out well. Too bad they can't give you at least two from the start. After my first stay, I was hesitant about returning. After this last stay, I was glad I did. Overall it's a good value.
