Why We Like It

Downtown Las Vegas is often seen as the grittier, grimier little sister of the Strip, but Golden Nugget offers amenities and unique attractions that allow it to compete with the big boys.

Fodor's Expert Review

Offering some of the most upscale accommodations in downtown, this luxury property manages to balance the feel of a Strip property with the charm of old-school Vegas. Plus, it offers some of the most unique attractions in the entire city.

Room

Décor stays true to the resort’s “golden” nature with rich browns and beiges. The vibe ranges from calming and serene to smokier and sexier, depending on how upgraded you want to go.

Bathroom

Marble countertops offer plenty of space to lay things out, or you can take advantage of the lighted vanity for getting ready – standard in every room.

Lobby

Funky artwork and deep colors maintain a sophisticated feel overall.

You Should Know There is a literal golden nugget! It is called the Hand of Faith. It weighs 61 pounds and was found in Australia in 1980. A display featuring a replica nugget can be found near the lobby (the original nugg is currently being loaned to Golden Nugget Biloxi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast).

Pool

Golden Nugget doesn’t just have a pool. It has a 200,000-gallon shark tank – referred to just as The Tank. Guests can zip down a one-of-a-kind waterslide that slices directly through the tank, or they can swim in the pool with only glass separating them from the sharks and other aquatic life. After that once-in-a-lifetime experience, you can lounge poolside in the cabanas or bar typical of other resort pools.

Tip Spray sun care products are banned from use in the pool area and hotel walkways. If you want to use them, do so in the privacy of your room. Approved sunscreen is also available for purchase on site.

Spa

Treatments for the body and mind are available at Golden Nugget Spa & Salon. On the spa side, features include saunas, steam rooms and massages. On the salon side, make-up services, waxes, and nails are available.

Gym

The complimentary gym offers both Cybex equipment and free weights. Complimentary bottled water, fresh fruit and sanitation wipes are provided.

Dining

Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse offers an old-school steakhouse vibe if you’re willing to drop dollars on some exquisite eats. Chart House offers an extensive seafood menu, which you can eat next to a 75,000-gallon tropical fish aquarium.

Drinking

Stage Bar will sell you those kitschy souvenir keepsake cups filled with slushy cocktails or beer, which you can drink under the Fremont Street Experience canopy. If tequila is your drink of choice, definitely check out the Cadillac Tequila Bar, which offers more than 70 boutique varieties.
