Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park

Fodor's Review:

About a five-minute drive northwest of downtown, you'll find the last family of Barbary apes in the United States, along with chimpanzees, eagles, ostriches, emus, parrots, wallabies, flamingos, endangered cats (including tigers), and every species of venomous reptile native to southern Nevada—150 species in all. One exhibit features species native to Nevada such as mountain lions, coyotes, golden eagles, and deer; an underwater exhibit stars a 7-foot-long alligator named Elvis. The park has easy-view animal enclosures and a petting zoo with smaller animals.

  • Cost: $7, $5 children 2-12
  • Open: Daily 9-4:30
