Volcano at Mirage

Volcano at Mirage Review

This erupting volcano, a 54-foot mountain-fountain surrounded by a lake of miniature fire spouts, is a must-see free attraction on the Strip. Several times an hour the whole area erupts in flames, smoke, and eerily backlit water that looks like lava. The thundering island percussion sound track was created by Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. The best vantage point is near the main drive entrance, or on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard in front of Casino Royale.

It's OK, but not very dramatic, high tech or realistic. A younger child would probably think it is neat, otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way or wait to see it.

One of the big outdoor attractions along The Strip, impressive in its way if kind of corny and kitchy. At least it's free.
