The ceiling, constructed almost entirely of Costa Rican Padouk wood, curves like a breaking wave at this upscale comfort-food restaurant. A-list celebrities frequent this spot, and for good reason: all your favorite childhood foods are prepared with a twist for your grown-up taste buds. Take the mac-and-cheese side dish, for example—it's croquettes and a cheese sauce for dipping. Craving carbs? Indulge in lobster mashed potatoes. Entrées include a delicious lobster with prosciutto, gnocchi, and truffle cream, and sea bass with baby shrimp in a lobster broth. Banana doughnuts served with two dipping sauces are a perfect ending. The kitchen serves until midnight most evenings, and until 2 AM Friday and Saturday.

My other half and I had dinner reservations for FIX this december, and I had high hopes after reading the reviews on here and other sites. Unfortunately, the meal did not live up to my expectations. The atmosphere was pleasant, if a little dark, and the service was quick and friendly. The food was a different matter. We ordered the veal wellington, forks, lobster tacos, and the adult mac & cheese. The veal tasted "gardeny" as my boyfriend put it; as if they had stuffed it with lawn grass. The forks were not terrible, but they tasted overwelmingly of cream cheese. The adult mac & cheese... this was the dish I had heard the most about, almost all of it positive, so I was quite disappointed when I was served greasy friend noodles and cheese that tasted like it came from a can. Bleh. On the plus side, the lobster tacos were very fresh and tasty, and I had a cucumber martini that was excellent. The only reason I would consider going again would be for that cucumber martini.
