Fodor's Review:

You have to brave a neighborhood of illicit-looking 24-hour "massage" parlors to find this surprisingly natty restaurant that serves stupendously good food. It's in a shopping center north of Sahara Casino, and the space is filled with imported antiquities. Locals make up a large part of the clientele. Tandoori meats and nan bread are prepared in the tandoor (oven), and other specialties include lamb korma with cashews, almonds, and raisins, and chicken vindaloo.

You must be kidding. Value?? $4.50 for a garlic naan! $3 for an ordinary naan (sorry, 5 cents less than $3). A simple Daal (lentils) for $13! And they do not even provide complementary rice with the entrees, that go as high as $25 for lamp chop masala (simply "mince meat" or "kheema" in most places)! And what is with those hostile signs so typical of some Indian businesses --- "We reserve the right to refuse Service to Anyone" "No shirt, no shoes, no Service." That is always your right on your property, there is no need to rub that in. It is rude. And this new sign that I saw there: "Any one over 5 years old will be charged full price for buffet." Since when has a 5 year old become an adult? Have some kindness/courtesy to kids at least --- their stomachs are too small for you to charge $20 for what they put into it typically.

We waited 40 minutes to be seated --- and that is actually a good sign that the place is popular. We ordered food and waited with keen anticipation. The Paneer Pakoras arrived --- 5-6 pieces in all. OK. My wife and I grabbed a piece each and put our teeth into it. It was well-spiced and warm outside --- but inside it was hard and stone-cold. They clearly prepare their food ages ago, even pakoras (appetizers!), store it in the freezer and reheat it on being ordered by a guest. In my case, they had obviously just dropped these from the freezer into hot oil (not even a microwave) and since it was a busy evening, they pulled it out too quickly and the cat was out of the bag. The culminating piece of ridicule was they took it away and brought back a plate of THREE, not SIX pieces (re-re-heated). They were clearly telling us, that we had somehow either swallowed or regurgitated two pieces and broken one, so they only got back three reusable (reheatable) pieces, so that is what they just reheated a little more and brought them right back. In my case, they clearly re-reheated the Paneer Pakoras from our plates in a big bath of hot oil --- which is used to deep fry a whole lot of stuff the same evening. Total sharing experience I guess! At $4.50 per garlic naan, you would (or should) expect far more.
