Cleverly decorated with a folk-art-meets-roadhouse assemblage of pressed-license-plate ceilings, hardwood floors, exposed-brick walls, and copper-top tables, this hip yet unfussy joint pays homage to the great American hamburger, including turkey and veggie varieties. Order the Perfect Burger (gruyere cheese, smoked bacon, frisee, roasted tomato, onion marmalade, and housemade sauce and herb mayo), for example, or El Caliente (pepper jack cheese, avocado, chipotle sauce, red onion, lettuce, tomato, and jalapeño). Apps include fantastic buttermilk-batter onion rings, and specialty cocktails and milkshakes provide scrumptious alternatives to beer. Avoid booth seating if you're pint-size; overly squishy cushions will sink you several inches downward from tabletop.
