Park Essentials

Accessibility

Designated handicap parking spaces are available at both visitor centers. The center itself is all on one level, fully accessible to those with impaired mobility. The park slide show is captioned. At the front desk you can borrow wheelchairs to use in the center and in the first room of Lehman Caves. A cut curb provides access to a table and fire grate at the picnic area near the visitor center, which also has accessible restrooms. Baker Creek Campground, Upper Lehman Creek Campground, and Wheeler Peak Campground are accessible, though the restroom access ramp at Upper Lehman Creek Campground is steep.

Admission Fees and Permits

Admission to the park is free, but if you want to tour Lehman Caves there's a fee ($4-$10, depending on age and tour length). To fish in Great Basin National Park, those 12 and older need a Nevada state fishing license (contact the Nevada Department of Wildlife: www.ndow.org). The resident license costs $13 for kids 12-15 and $29 for those 16 and older; the one-day nonresident license is $9, plus $3 for each additional day at time of purchase. Backcountry hikers do not need permits, but for your own safety you should fill out a form at the visitor center before setting out.

The park is open 24/7 year-round, and it's in the Pacific time zone.
