Kandahar–The Lodge at Big Mountain Review

Cafe Kandahar (no lunch, reservations recommended), the small, rustic dining room in this lovely mountain lodge, serves the finest dinners ($$$–$$$$) on the mountain. In addition to dressed-up standards such as tournedos of beef and New York strip steak, you can choose from game dishes such as roast quail, elk roulade, and duck with a spice-and-orange-vanilla-bean jus, all prepared with a French provincial touch. In the rest of the lodge, the massive lobby fireplace and the Snug Bar are attractive public spaces, and the wood-accented guest rooms feature tile-and-granite finishes, leather furniture, and down comforters on the beds. Remedies Day Spa provides massage services daily and is on-site. You can catch a free two-minute shuttle to the slopes, then ski back to the lodge.
