Fodor's Review

With its lodgelike dining room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace and exposed log beams, Blue Canyon pairs rustic yet elegant Montana ambience with excellent, hearty cuisine. Innovative, seasonally inspired dishes fill the menu. Look for huckleberry barbecued elk meatballs, warm duck salad with walnut vinaigrette, bison potpie with Parmesan cream, or pretzel-crusted trout with caper butter. Better yet, plan ahead and reserve the private table to create your own five-course culinary experience with the inventive head chef.

Worst restaurant experince - unexceptable in all ways.

We tried your Missoula restaurant for the first time last night (sunday the 18th of November), and we were very disappointed. We (four of us) came into the restaurant at about 7pm. It was not crowded at all, and there were quite a few wait staff present. However, every component of our meal was extremely slow in being delivered. Drinks, bread, etc, and it was a full hour and half before our main courses were brought. Two of us ordered steaks, one

well done, the other medium. When they finally arrived, they were rare and cold. Several times during our long wait I asked our waitress what the delay was, and each time was told they were just very busy. The total bill came to $139, for a miserable meal. I left no tip, and on our way out explained to our hostess the reason why, asking her to let the manager know. Here response was a simple, "ok," without a word of apology. I have lived in Missoula 30 years, and go out several times a week, and routinely tip 20 to 30%. This is the first time in my life I have not left any tip at all, and the first time I have written to complain about a meal. If this note is being read, I hope you bring it to the owners attention that you have a serious problem with your Missoula staff, and if you want to stay in businesses, you should consider having a talk with them about service, and long delays and what someone who spends over $100 on a meal should expect. However, you have lost four potential customers already.
