Camping

There are numerous campsites throughout the region, and they vary from rustic (with pit toilets) to relatively plush (with cabins and heated swimming pools). When camping, ask about bears in the area and whether or not food must be stored inside a hard-side vehicle (not a tent). Avoid bringing pets to campgrounds—it can lead to confrontations with the wildlife, and it's against the rules at most campgrounds.

Contact Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks for information on camping in state parks and the U.S. Forest Service for information on camping at national parks in the area.
