Old Montana Prison Museum

Fodor's Review:

Built in 1871, the old Montana Territorial Prison did not shut down until 1979. It's now the Old Montana Prison Museum, where you can enter cells and learn about early Montana law. Also on display is the gallows tree taken from town to town in territorial days to hang convicted prisoners.

  • Cost: $9, includes admission to other 3 complex museums
  • Open: June-Aug., daily 8-8; Sept.-May, daily 9-5
