Bicycling in Glacier National Park

Cyclists in Glacier must stay on roads or bike routes and are not permitted on hiking trails or in the backcountry. Bicyclists practically have the park to themselves in April and May before the roads are open to vehicle traffic. This is an ideal time to enjoy it before the summer bustle. The one-lane, unpaved Inside North Fork Road from Apgar to Polebridge is well suited to mountain bikers. Two Medicine Road is an intermediate paved route, with a mild grade at the beginning, becoming steeper as you approach Two Medicine Campground. Bicycles are not permitted past Apgar campground on Going-to-the-Sun Road from 11 to 4, although during the summer full moons, groups of bicyclists pedal to Logan Pass and cruise back down in the bright moonlight. Other restrictions apply during road construction.
