Blue Bird Bistro

Blue Bird Bistro Review

A bright blue facade and yellow door stand as beacons among dignified Victorian homes on this prominent corner just west of downtown. Inside, exposed brick walls and linen-covered tables play host to a menu featuring locally grown and organic ingredients. The rich bison burger melts in your mouth, as does the signature Blue Bird Salad, with its crumbled Maytag blue cheese, toasted pine nuts, candied red onions, and house-prepared blueberry vinaigrette.

A cozy bistro setting, a fine selection of wines, and extraordinary food combine to make this an excellent choice for an evening's meal. The hummus was superb, with a rich, delicious blend of spices served with warm bread. The flavorful green curry featuring fresh, organic garden vegetables was delightful. The thick, juicy bison burger with organic house mustard, house ketchup, and house vegan mayo made this choice truly exceptional. And the ice cream sandwich featuring homemade rosemary ice cream layered between two fresh, warm pecan cookies topped with real chocolate sauce was a divine ending. Coffee was bold and satisfying, and the server's recommended wine pairings did not disappoint. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Lunch menu pricing goes until 5 pm (at least on weekdays - not sure about weekends) offering a superior value for an early dinner.
