Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) (4300 Glumack Dr., St. Paul, 55111. 612/726-5555. www.mspairport.com) lies between the cities on I-494, 8 miles south of downtown St. Paul and 10 miles south of downtown Minneapolis. It is served by most major domestic airlines, several foreign carriers, and is a Northwest Airlines hub.

Transfers Between the Airport & Town

By Bus

From the airport to either city, Metropolitan Transit Commission (612/349-7000) buses cost $1 ($2 during rush hour).

By Car

The airport is 16 miles from downtown Minneapolis and 12 miles from downtown St. Paul. To get to Minneapolis, take Highway 5 east, following signs to Highway 55 east which turns into Highway 62 west. Follow the signs to I-35W north, which will lead to the downtown Minneapolis exits. To reach downtown St. Paul, take Highway 5 east to W. 7th St., which leads directly into downtown, or take the north I-35E exit from W. 7th St. which leads to St. Paul exits.

Taxis take about 30 minutes and charge $17-$25 to both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul.
