My husband and I got married in downtown Saint Paul and decided to spend the evening at the Saint Paul Hotel, even though we live less than a mile away. We had a great afternoon and early night with our small wedding group at the hotel's bar and restaurant. Our room was a moderate size and had a king bed, a nice minibar, comfy chairs, and a good view over the river. It was extremely clean and quiet and we were more than happy with our decision to spend a good portion of our wedding day at the Saint Paul Hotel. When we had our reception a few months later, many of our guests stayed there and were pleased as well.

I have stayed here because of business...but am not planning on a return. Personally, I can't understand why this is tooted as a 5 star hotel.
The historic value and ambiance of the lobby, restaurants, and other public rooms is justified. But the rooms are smallish, over priced, and the staff is often very rude.
With so many alternatives in St. Paul I do not think this is worth the money. The service in restaurants and front desk can be rude.
