Michigan Travel Guide

When to Go to Michigan

Peak Season: May to September

Plan and book in advance. Michigan summers are prime time to experience outdoor recreation as temperatures can be sublime (in the high 60s through low 80s).

Off Season: November to February

The best hotel deals can be found this time of year. Although it’s the state’s low tourist season (average temperatures on the Lower Peninsula: 20s and 30s, with below-freezing conditions in the Upper Peninsula), it’s high season for skiing and other snow-culture sports. Arts and culture attractions in cities beef up their programming in the off-season.

Shoulder Season: October; March to April

Hotel and other deals run hot and cold during fall and spring months, just like the weather (temperatures tend to average in the 40s and 50s) with occasional snowfall in March. Seasonably warm days in October and April are a boon for travelers.
