Commanding a huge presence in downtown Northampton with its formidable glass-paned front, this 1927 hotel is a magnet for visiting professors and parents, although location—shops and restaurants are right outside the door—is the main thing the historic property has going for it. Some rooms are small, most are decorated in subtle neutrals and pastels and furnished with reproductions of period antiques.
