Big Mamou Review

If you're cravin' Creole, you can't miss this casual joint, with seriously good, uncomplicated Louisiana cuisine. Owner/chef Wayne Booker stands behind the kitchen counter, and his hometown recipes, like Louisiana Lenny's sausage and chicken ya-ya (chicken breast wrapped around andouille sausage with Creole spices), shrimp-and-sausage jambalaya, barbecue pulled pork, and Bayou meatloaf. Added bonus: You can bring your own bottle.

    Big Mamou Review

Before my trip, I heard that Springfield is coming into its own as a foodie town -- for a city of 160,000, it has a lot of culinary diversity.

When I asked a Springfielder which restaurant he recommended, he said Big Mamou. I never would've noticed this place. It's a hole in the wall! I nearly walked by it until I smelled--yes, that smell of excellent food-and I followed it to Big Mamou.

I live in San Francisco, a great town for foodies -- Big Mamou would be one of the most popular restaurants in San Fran, in my opinion. I find the food difficult to describe other than "wow!" and "yes!" :)
