Sally Webster Inn
34 Mt. Pleasant St., Rockport, Massachusetts, 01966, USA
This historic inn, which is within walking range of shops, restaurants, and beaches, was named for a member of Hannah Jumper's "Hatchet Gang," teetotalers who smashed up the town's liquor stores in 1856 and turned Rockport into the dry town it remained until as recently as 2008. Sally lived in this house for much of her life, and the poshly decorated guest rooms are named for members of her family. Caleb's Room is a romantic retreat with a four-poster bed and floral quilts, and William's Room has a crisply nautical theme. Other rooms have wide-board pine floors, nonworking brick fireplaces, rocking chairs, and four-poster, brass, or canopy beds.
